ANOTHER BATCH OF ILLEGAL TAXIS IMPOUNDED AT THE AIRPORT
The Confederation Cup Task Team of the Gauteng Traffic Police has once again impounded unauthorized operators at the O.R. Tambo International Airport. Within two weeks, over 20 illegal operating vehicles have been impounded.
Yesterday, a total of six (6) Maxi Taxi illegal operators were impounded yesterday at O.R. International Airport. This was as a result of a routine operation conducted to ensure the safety of visitors during the Confederations Cup and beyond is guaranteed.
The Department will continue to root out illegal operators, and urges all operators to register in order to facilitate smoother operation, as this poses a great danger to our visitors. This is in line with the Gauteng Safety Strategy which has already achieved 30% reduction of road accidents and fatalities over the last five years
