MEC Cachalia to Honour Patrollers at a Graduation Ceremony

More than 1 700 patrollers will be honoured at a graduation ceremony to be officiated by MEC Firoz Cachalia of the Department of Community Safety. The patrollers under-went an eight day SASSETA training that include modules such as security (Grade A-E) time management, and project management.

To date the department has recruited 2100 patrollers, and will recruit additional 2000 in the 2008/09 financial year. Since the recruitment process started, the department has offered equipment and uniform to the patrollers. The training forms part of further equipping patrollers the necessary skills to better perform their daily activities. The patroller program goes a long way in complementing the work done by the department to strengthen community involvement and improved levels of public safety.
