THE ANTI-HIJACK UNIT OF GAUTENG TRAFFIC POLICE RECOVERS TWO STOLEN TRUCKS IN THE EAST RAND

The Anti-Hijack Unit The Gauteng Traffic Police has recovered two stolen trucks, one Isuzu truck abandoned at Lesedi Shopping Centre in Vosloorus and another campster truck at Phola Park in Thokoza.  This is a result of installation of tracking devices on Gauteng Traffic Police vehicles done recently in partnership with  tracker to assist the police in tracing stolen vehicles in the province.  The system allows prompt identification of a vehicle and its location to allow a speedy recovery once reported stolen by police or through tracker system.  The Isuzu belonging to Reclam recycling company was reported and recovered within eight minutes of the activation of the tracker system.

No arrests have been made, and the trucks has been taken to the South African Police for fingerprints and for opening a stolen vehicle docket.

Community members are also urged to assist the department and the police by reporting any criminal activity they may witness within their locality.
